RCC: SEE countries with Investment Reform Index
Author/source: SEEbizSARAJEVO / ZAGREB – Representatives of SEE countries will discuss the preparatory activities for intoducing the Investment Reform Index (IRI 2009) for South East Europe (SEE) in Sarajevo tomorrow, report in the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
IRI index, according to the RCC, assesses progress of each SEE country in fighting corruption, market competition, taxation, trade policy, regulatory reform, investment promotion and human resources development.
“IRI 2009 will reassess the mentioned guidelines and introduce new areas, such as investment infrastructure, financial declaration and reporting and parliamentary role in regulator reform”, state in RCC.
The index will provide a clear insight into progress made in last two years, aiding governments to determine priority reforms crucial for attracting investments. The meeting will be attended by 20 representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia and Kosovo.
“The preparatory activities for IRI 2009 imply wide scale cooperation between experts of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), economic expert teams from regional countries as well as representatives of corporate sectors active in the region, fully supported by the RCC”, convey in the RCC.
Investment Reform Index is the leading publication of the OECD investment support program in SEE, while the first index was published two years ago.
